Command
Show IP NAT Statistics
Use
This command shows various NAT statistics. It is useful for troubleshooting.
Syntax
Router#show ip nat statistics
Example
In the below example we configure R2 to translate addresses from 10.1.1.0/24 to 10.2.2.0/24.
R2(config)#access-list 25 permit 10.1.1.0 0.0.0.255 R2(config)#ip nat inside source list 25 interface fa1/0 R2(config)#int fa0/0 R2(config-if)#ip nat inside R2(config-if)#int fa1/0 R2(config-if)#ip nat out
Now we will do several pings to generate NAT traffic.
Success rate is 0 percent (0/5) R1(config-if)#do ping 10.2.2.3 Type escape sequence to abort. Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 10.2.2.3, timeout is 2 seconds: !!!!! Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 12/33/84 ms R1(config-if)#do ping 10.2.2.3 Type escape sequence to abort. Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 10.2.2.3, timeout is 2 seconds: !!!!! Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 12/42/88 ms R1(config-if)#do ping 10.2.2.3 Type escape sequence to abort. Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 10.2.2.3, timeout is 2 seconds: !!!!! Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 12/34/64 ms R1(config-if)#
Then we can see the NAT statistics using the show ip nat statistics command.
R2(config)#do show ip nat statistics Total active translations: 0 (0 static, 0 dynamic; 0 extended) Outside interfaces: FastEthernet1/0 Inside interfaces: FastEthernet0/0 Hits: 27 Misses: 3 CEF Translated packets: 30, CEF Punted packets: 0 Expired translations: 3 Dynamic mappings: — Inside Source [Id: 1] access-list 25 interface FastEthernet1/0 refcount 0 Queued Packets: 0
