Learning Objectives

Introduction:

This activity will verify that the NIC address is bound to the IPv4 address and that the NIC is ready to transmit signals across the medium.

Task 1: Determine if the NIC address is bound to the IPv4 address

Step 1. Ping the interface IP address on a PC

Click on PC 1A. The PC configuration window opens. Click the Command Prompt button on the Desktop tab. Enter the command ipconfig to verify the IP address assigned to the interface. Enter the command ping 172.16.1.1, the IP address assigned to the interface. The ping should succeed, indicating that the NIC address is bound to the IPv4 address and that the NIC is ready to transmit signals across the medium.
