Use

This command is used to set the duplex mode on an interface.

Syntax

Router(config-if)#duplex <auto or full or half>

Option

<auto> Automatically determine the duplex mode by checking with the neighbor
<full> Sets full duplex mode
<half> Sets half duplex mode

Example

Duplex Command on CISCO Router/Switch 1

In this example, we will set Fa0/0 to use full and half-duplex modes.

2611XM(config)#int fa0/0
2611XM(config-if)#duplex full

2611XM(config-if)#do sh int fa0/0 | in duplex
Full-duplex, 100Mb/s, 100BaseTX/FX

2611XM(config-if)#duplex half
2611XM(config-if)#do sh int fa0/0 | in duplex
Half-duplex, 100Mb/s, 100BaseTX/FX
